(Pronouns: He/Him/His)
Hello! My name is Alec Fradin, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I believe effective mental health care comes from treating the whole person versus a collection of symptoms. I am passionate about supporting individuals and groups by increasing psychological flexibility and helping clients create more present-minded, balanced lives.
Throughout my clinical career, I have specialized in helping children, adolescents, and young adults navigate difficult life challenges, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and other emotional and mental health concerns. I have found that meeting clients where they are at while creating a trusting therapeutic relationship is paramount to fostering personal growth.
I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from The University of Iowa and my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from DePaul University in Chicago. I have worked and interned at several different clinical settings including both community mental health and private practice, gaining experience in ABA therapy, CBT, ACT, and DBT. I have come to recognize that there is no single therapeutic approach that works for everyone. My goal is to help clients develop a greater understanding of themselves, build effective coping skills, navigate difficult emotions, and develop greater confidence in themselves.
Ultimately, I try to create a space where clients can be their authentic selves without fear of judgment. Whether someone is struggling with a specific mental health concern, navigating a difficult transition, or simply feeling stuck, I strive to meet each person with benevolent curiosity, compassion, and understanding. I recognize that reaching out to a therapist can be challenging and scary, but taking that leap is an important step towards creating positive change.
