KIDS
When working with kids, we typically meet with the parent or caregiver first for a diagnostic session to collect information, review needs, goals, expectations, and course of therapy. The second diagnostic session is with the individual child. Following the first two evaluative sessions, subsequent sessions will focus on the development and implementation of a treatment plan and may or may not include parents and/or siblings depending on needs and goals. Sessions are typically 45-55 minutes.
Counseling for kids and teens may involve school observations, attendance at IEP meetings, collaboration with other care providers, and other services outside the typical office setting. These services may or may not be covered by insurance.
